If you thought Anakeesta was already an incredible destination, just wait until you see the theme park’s newest expansion this summer! Along with a thrilling new double-rail mountain coaster, the park is adding an aviary-inspired adventure zone for kids and some theme retail shopping experiences! Here is everything that you need to know about the exciting new additions coming to Anakeesta theme park this summer:
1. Hellbender Mountain Coaster
The Hellbender Mountain Coaster will be the first double-rail mountain coaster at Anakeesta theme park, joining the Rail Runner single-rail coaster for more downhill adventures! The ride is themed to reflect the local Smoky Mountain salamander species, and you’ll be screaming in delight as you twist and turn your way down the mountain! Unlike a traditional roller coaster, the Hellbender Mountain Coaster puts you in the driver’s seat as you control the speed of your ride with a convenient braking system! This means that you can enjoy a leisurely cruise on your way to the bottom or go full speed ahead to whip around the tight curves!
2. BirdVenture Adventure Zone
Another one of the exciting new additions coming to Anakeesta theme park this summer is the BirdVenture Adventure Zone, where guests can play and imagine life as a bird in the Smokies! Kids of all ages will be able to explore 3 colorful, larger-than-life birdhouses, a dozen interactive adventure zones, and 7 giant serpentine slides that wind over 50 feet down the mountain! This unique series of slide paths marks another first-of-its-kind attraction in the United States, keeping Anakeesta on the cutting edge when it comes to interactive entertainment! The BirdVenture Adventure Zone joins the park’s other great play areas for kids, including the Treehouse Adventure Play area and the BearVenture Challenge Course.
3. Themed Retail Areas
While Anakeesta theme park is well known for its fun attractions, tempting restaurants, and breathtaking Smoky Mountain views, many guests also love the park’s wonderful specialty shops! As part of the expansion this summer, Anakeesta will be opening two new themed retail areas! The first is right along the Parkway at the base of the mountain, where the Savannah Bee Company transforms into a new retail space called the Great Outdoors Trading Company. The second, Elk Exchange, will be located alongside the Hellbender mountain coaster.
