You can have fun in the Smokies without having to spend a ton of money! Gatlinburg is full of incredible attractions, but they can be pretty pricey. 1. Go Wine Tasting

If you are at least 21 years old, you can taste wine in Gatlinburg for free. Each winery has a different specialty, and you might just find a new favorite drink! Every winery does have white, red, and sparkling wines. Some of the wineries you can visit include Sugarland Winery, Little Bear Winery, and Tennessee Homemade Wines.

2. Taste Hard Cider

Don’t like wine? Don’t worry; you can always taste hard cider at Tennessee Cider Company! You can taste their flavors for free any time as long as they are open. You can try their original or one of their flavors, including seasonal flavors. You might find a new favorite drink at Tennessee Cider Company!

3. Visit the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community

A really cool place you’ll want to explore is the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community. All along an 8-mile loop, these shops are filled with artists and craftsmen from the community. They make all kinds of incredible things, from paintings to sculptures. At many of these businesses, you can watch the owners make their products. The only thing you’ll have to pay for is one of the items if you fall in love with it!

4. Hike a Trail Near Gatlinburg

There are several free things to do in Gatlinburg, and one of them is hiking! The Gatlinburg Trail is right outside of downtown Gatlinburg. This is an easy trail that takes you through the woods and over a river. Several other trails nearby include Grotto Falls, Rainbow Falls, and Twin Creeks Trail.

5. Explore Mynatt Park

If you have small children, a great free thing to do in Gatlinburg is visit Mynatt Park. This community park is free to visit, and it has a ton of picnic areas, it sits next to a creek, and there’s a playground. You can even walk around the small paved track. This is a great place to go when you want to spend some time outside.

6. See Sugarland Visitors Center

Another free thing to do in Gatlinburg is visit the Sugarland Visitors Center. It sits right outside of Gatlinburg in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is a small museum in the visitor center with stuffed animals, a short film about the park, and other artifacts. You can learn more about the Smokies at this visitors center, and it’s completely free!
