Dollywood is undoubtedly one of the most popular theme parks in the entire United States. The reason for this is because there is so much to see and do while you are there. If you enjoy thrill rides, they have a multitude of amazing attractions for you to check out, including roller coasters. However, if that does not interest you, there are still many reasons to make the trip to the park. Here are 4 things to do at Dollywood besides riding roller coasters:
1. Watch the Shows
No matter what time of year you plan on visiting Dollywood, there are always amazing shows on the schedule. They have some performances that are available year long, including the popular Southern gospel show, The Kingdom Heirs! While you will want to check out the yearly shows, Dollywood also puts on some spectacles that correspond with their current festival. During the warmer months of the year, you can attend outdoor music shows that are sure to get your toes tapping. Around Christmas time, they put on an array of shows where you can listen and sing along to your favorite carols performed by the talented Dollywood musicians!
2. Enjoy some Delicious Food
If there is one thing you are sure to find at Dollywood, it’s incredible culinary delights. Unlike other theme parks across the country, you will be able to find much more to eat than just snack foods at a concession stand. As you travel through the park, you will find delicious sit down restaurants where you can find everything from southern cooking to Smoky Mountain BBQ. After you find the perfect place to satisfy your appetite, be sure to stop by The Grist Mill for some of their famous homemade cinnamon bread for dessert!
3. Souvenir Shopping
Throughout Dollywood, you will find an array of different stores where you can pick up a Smoky Mountain souvenir for yourself and all your friends and family back home. One of the most popular one stop shops is the Dollywood Emporium, which is located at the main entrance of the park. There you will find all sorts of amazing souvenirs, including apparel, accessories, magnets, toys, and much more! If you are looking for a personalized gift, be sure to visit either Wired Up Names or Kaman’s Airbrush Shoppe, which are both located in Craftsman’s Valley!
4. Take in the Mountain Scenery
Even if you don’t like rides, one of the most popular things to do at Dollywood is to just walk through the park and soak in the mountain scenery. The theme park spans across 160 acres in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. As you adventure around, be sure to take a minute to appreciate the beauty of the mountains. During the Flower and Food Festival, you can see thousands of blooming plants and colorful art sculptures throughout the park. Also, be sure to return during the Smoky Mountain Christmas event to experience Dollywood lit up with over 5 million twinkling lights!
